Type of Activity: Trust, Cooperation
Props Needed: None
Set Up: Ask the group to form a tight knit circle. Then have them turn to their right and scoot in one more foot.
Process: As the facilitator, look for "problem areas" in the tight knit circle. Make sure the circle is round and that there are no corners anywhere. Have them put a hand on the shoulder of the person in front of them for support. On a slow count of three, instruct the group that they will "sit" as a group. They should lower themselves down until they feel their derriere rest on the person's legs behind them. Hold for a few seconds and then have them stand back up again.
Variation: If you feel they have a tight lap sit, do it again and see if they can take a few steps together in the seated position. Call out "Right" and then "Left". An extra challenge!
- How many people were leery that this task could be accomplished?
- What were some of your concerns?
- Were you surprised when it worked?
