Type of Activity: Trust Game

Props Needed: Blindfolds

Set Up: This game works best in an area that has lots of nooks and crannies (of ample size) to jam lots of bodies into.  An open gymnasium is not a good choice.  The game is best played at night indoors.

Process: Traditionally, the person designated IT in a hide-and-go-seek game should count to 30 with eyes closed while everyone else hides.  However, in this game, the IT hides and everyone else tries to find the hidden IT, while blindfolded.  As the seeking folks wander about, with their "bumpers" up, they try to find the IT.  When the person who is IT is found by a blindfolded person, the IT squeezes their hand gently two times.  This lets the blindfolded person know that they have found the IT and they may remove their blindfold and join the IT in hiding.  The game continues until everyone has found the IT.

Debriefing Topics:

  • Was it hard to stay quiet when you were It?
  • What strategies did you use to try to find the person who was It?
